El subtítulo del primer Serious Sam ya indicaba una segura segunda parte, que no se ha hecho esperar. La segunda entrega corrige algunas carencias del título precedente. Como ya sabréis la mayoría, nos encontramos ante un shoot’em up en el que seremos un tipo duro llamado Sam, empeñado en acabar con Mental y su ejército de extraterrestres y aberraciones experimentales, fatal amenaza para el género humano. Nuestro camino nos llevará a través de 12 mapas repartidos por varias localizaciones. Para abrirnos paso por ellos contamos con la inestimable ayuda de catorce herramientas de destrucción. Serious Sam: The Second Encounter posee una opción multijugador con los nuevos modos de juego, más mapas y la inclusión del mod Seriously Warped Deathmatch.
